HNA was founded by Lia Bello, RN, FNP, CCH, in 1984.  

Lia had a vision that nurses were and are a vital force in homeopathy.  Because of her dedication and that of the original members, HNA is a thriving organization today! We are grateful for her vision.

Kathy Zimmerman



Kathy has over 30 years as a holistic health practitioner and educator. She is a national speaker at conferences and nursing schools, presenting on holistic health topics,  complementary and integrative health, particularly a focus on homeopathy. Kathy offers consulting and education to advanced practice nurses on complementary and integrative health practice. She has published articles on natural health and wellness, in addition to evidence informed practice. She has a PhD in Nursing, is board certified as an Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner, and is a certified classical homeopath.

Sue Roe 


Vice President 

Sue is an accomplished leader, educator, designer, and presenter of courses, seminars, and workshops. For nearly 25 years she has had her own practice. Sue is currently co-chapter leader of the Arizona chapter - a chapter of the AHNA.  She was the founder and executive director of a consortium focused on integrative healthcare. Present and past publications include textbooks, guidebooks, handbooks, and articles. She co-authored Life by Personal Design: Realizing your Dream and authored a recently published textbook, The Nursing Assistant: Essentials of Holistic Care.  Sue has her doctorate in health policy and administration and a masters and bachelor's degree in nursing. 

Nancy Nelson




As a Nurse Practitioner with 24 years of experience, Nancy has provided planning, development, and implementation of a Free-Standing Birth Center, a Home Health and Hospice, and a Cultural Change program for elder-focused, long-term care based on person-directed values where the voices of elders and caregivers are respected. Nancy has recently been awarded her degree as Master of Science in Holistic Nursing from Westbrook University.

Kathleen Slonager




Kathleen has over twenty-five years experience in the  health and wellness field. She is a Registered Nurse, Certified Asthma Educator, and Board certified Classical Homeopath. She is a passionate patient advocate and health educator with expertise in disease management, quality assurance, health promotions, and complimentary and alternative modalities. 

Denise Litz


Membership Secretary 

Denise graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science from the College of Home Economics. In 2011 she received her diploma in practical nursing from Northeast Community College. Her experience is in long term care. In 2015 she completed a homeopathic diploma program through the Clinical Homeopathic College in Montana, while currently participating in ongoing theory classes at a local level. Her interest is advancing homeopathic access. She has been a member of HNA since 2015. She currently resides in Nebraska with her husband and two sons.

Margareta Richardson

Margareta graduated in Nursing 1993, Magna cum laude. She worked as a staff nurse specializing in wound care, and as a restorative nursing manager. She is a homeopathic graduate from the HASC, (Homeopathic Academy of Southern California) Carlsbad, School of Homeopathy.  She has a diploma from the CEDH (Center for Education & Development of Clinical Homeopathy) school of homeopathy, LA.  She has travelled to India twice for post graduate studies in homeopathy. Once with the Bengal Allen Institute, attending clinics in the slum of Kolkata, (For which institute she is now the west coast, on line, coordinator for their 12 weekend/over 2+ years, post graduate course.) Last year she also traveled to Kerala for 6 weeks, attending daily clinical sessions at Dr Jose Isaac’s private clinic. When first starting out as a homeopath she worked with NMD., Dana Churchill in LA, but she is currently in private practice. In 2014 she finished up and received the designation CCH, from the CHC. (Center for Homeopathic Certification)
